Makin an effort to keep animating......it's been a lil over 3 years since I finished AM. wow! time flies!! Anyways, here's something I did today. Got a job interview tomorrow.....no. Not a studio. Ok, here's the rig I was working on. Not fully rigged but did a quick animation with it anyways. The hands and the face are not done......will probably get back to animatin and forget about this for a while! lol Anyways, here it is. Wow! It's been a long time!! lol Well, we're in Utah now! Craziness!! I would've posted something earlier but have been tryin to find a job. Was hoping to have an animation job but as I learned, not everything works out and I should just be happy other things have. My family is happier than ever, and for that I am sooo thankful. I did a test last week but I ended up just giving up. Why? It involved rigging which I ended up failing miserably (the painting weights part). I did learn a lot though. To prove it, I finished rigging my model and moving on to the really hard part (1 of many)....painting weights! lol I'm pretty crazy!! lol ;O) Hopefully I will get to animate him soon!! ;O) ANyways, thanks for looking and I hope to post my progress soon! For my B-day I got an electronic drum kit. It's perfect for getting my frustrations out and getting my mind off of things. Believe me there are a lot of things on my mind. lol I'm not the greatest drummer but just like animating....the more I do it the better I will get. I have also been tryin to teach Malcolm what I know about drums. I will post a vid of his progress soon. Wish I could get him into animating but I tried and he didn't seem to take to it like the drums. Anyways, here's a vid I recorded earlier.....I found a accapello version of "Umbrella" and here's me attempting to play along. Thanks for looking and will try to have some animations up soon! The last rejection letter really did a number on my confidence. Rejection letters are nice cause at least I know someone is looking at my work. Been gettin a lot of good reviews.....just no jobs. :O( But after 3 years and a ton of rejection letters, I find myself thinking that maybe I'm crazy and need to stop. The other day I opened maya ( the 1st time in weeks!) just to see how I feel about it. I found myself animating again. The feeling of having no hope disappeared and I found myself with a renewed passion. I can and will make it.....I just need to keep moving forward. ;O) Anyways, no more rambling on, here's my next shot....thanks for looking and will try to post my progress. Man! It's been a long time since I have posted something! lol I'd love to say that I'm still animating but that would be a lie. I am back at my old job and working a lot......not much time for that. Hopefully I can find some balance and get back to it. Anyways, here's the last project I have worked on. My buddy Ray Kasel and me did all the animating. Rendering and lighting, etc were done by other people. I'm not happy with my work but am glad to have had the experience. I guess with each project I do, I get better....hoping to get more work soon. It's been a long time....I know....I'm a slacker! I haven't been feeling that motivated lately but now I am slowly coming out of this rut. I need to keep going if I'm ever to reach the "pretty good animator" status I'm workin so hard for. Gotta keep practicin and gettin better....then the job will fall in place. Since the my freelance job ended I've decided to get back to the last shot I was working on before I started the job. Things are tough and sometimes I think I should just throw the towel in. Someday all this will pay off. ;O) Went back to the short I am working on....looks like it will be a long time before that is done. lol Will post some character designs when I get a chance. Always on the hunt for work.....never give up...never surrender!! lol I had to post.....still tryin not to be a slacker! Decided to post some pics of my kids. Lucky Charms II (Malcolm).......my son is playin basketball now. I'm hoping he'll be better than I was (I was pretty good , in case you were wondering!!). He can shoot.....just need to build his confidence up. Then there's Morgan.....I'm gonna have to get a lot of weapons for when she gets older!! lol The last pic is a screenshot of my progress. I decided to untie my hands some by teaching myself to model. This is my 1st model....it's pretty bad, but I know the more I do it the better I'll get. Next will be rigging. Then I plan on working on a short film. All I need now is some time! lol Right now I'm doing 2 freelance jobs and working a 3rd gig at a gas station. GLAMOROUS!!! lol I figure I will work on my short when I'm in between freelance gigs. I should probably start doing some concept art and getting my story together. So much to do so little time. Here's something I've been workin on. The 1st 1 is the sketch I did and the 2nd pic is after I cleaned it up in photoshop. I'd color it in but since my graphics card is shot, the color is not showing ( I colored the moon to test it...maybe I'll just use shades of gray..lol) :O( My luck!...lol wish I had more time too...oh well. I was so happy when that 1st check came (sweaty too...I was mowing the lawn when it came). Now I find myself waiting for the next 1. It isn't easy being a freelance animator. I don't know when I'll get my next job.....I have been searching non- stop , even while working. It is harder than everyone said it is.....finding a job. lol I have applied to everywhere I could. It so hard when you have limited experience. Places want modelers/riggers/animators. I can only animate , which is both good and bad. I'm starting to wonder if I'm cut out for this industry. I guess only time will tell. I think I'm just feeling unmotivated....hopefully I can get back to it. Anyways, sorry it was so long since posting, been working my butt of for the Wompkee movie. Getting what experience I can. Hopefully it will get me another job. Will try to post again soon.....hopefully with a job!! lol ;OP Till then .........PEACE!!!!

Was wondering when this was coming!! I missed graduation and was really looking forward to at least getting my certificate. And here it is!! I feel a little bit more like I'm an animator....I know....I have a contract gig doing animating but have yet to get paid. Me....impatient..??? lol No!! I find myself without a lot of time. It's crunch time at school and find myself wondering if I'm gonna get a job in the near future. So much to do. Today I took the kids to their 2nd karate class. To see them trying so hard made me proud. That's probably why they inspire me sooo much. Anyways, here's the pics I took. I couldn't take them at class 'cause I forgot my camera! lol Oh well, there's always next week! :OP So I think I have all the inspiration to make my last push at school a great one. Here's my last 3rd of my short blocked out. Not too happy with it.....at least I know I have 2 more weeks to work on it. I was gonna put up the whole story blocked out, but for some reason when I upload it, it plays really fast. Makes no sense to me and I have no time to mess with it. lol I need to get some drawing time in...I'm missin it. lol I also sent some inquiries out to some game studios.....no response. :O( Guess I just gotta keep bustin my butt and hopefully someday I'll get my foot in. Man.......at a loss for words. I did light my candles....also realized that I don't own very many. I also put a small glass, with the rose from Mekhi's funeral, in front of the candles. My nephew.... Anyways, I burned the candles for a little over an hour to show my support for not only my inspiring brother but for all the others out there. I know it never goes away. I'm feelin like I'm not ready to animate a short so am trying to practice as much as possible. I did some other animations put they have some serious cussing it them...lol My friend Brandon Compito (of course he has no website) writes and sings songs so I took part of 1 of his songs and animated it with some cheesiness...lol Hope u like it!! Oh...I also messed around with lighting and rendering. Class 5 started ...woo-hoo!!! Will post about my mentor next time and on my other blog. Where'd my week go? School starts up again soon.... can't wait!! I tried to get some sketchin in but am not feelin like myself. Who knows? Anyways, I went to see 1408.....pretty crazy movie. I still want to see "Ratatouille" and "Transformers" Hopefully I can scrape up some money. Things are tight and I gotta say, my 1st instinct is to drop out of school and do what it takes to get out of this hole. I've been here before and have told myself many of times that it I won't let it happen again. This time is different...I have kids. My brain is so scattered....so many worries....so much to learn. :O( Well, here's some sketches. My hands are so shaky lately. Just rust I guess. Title says it all. Wish I had started drawing and animating a little bit earlier. Sometimes I don't know which is worse...the financial battle or the mental battle. Tough choice. I sometimes get that feeling that I could solve the financial woes by simply putting the animating on pause. I know that is a bad idea.....that's how I end up not finishing something. The mental side is tricky...just when I think I'm getting it...something new wreaks havoc on my now fragile mind. I guess the mental side has the edge cause it's also involved in the financial side. No wonder animators are a couple sandwiches short of a picnic. :OP Anyways, class 3 is comin to and end and I'm hopin I passed....guess I'll find out by Tues. It's been awhile since I've drawn anything. :O( Just so busy lately. Here's the laminate flooring I was installing.....it's almost done now and looks really nice. From Monday to 3:00 am this morning we were in Taccoa Georgia. It was so beautiful! I'm gonna post pics on my other blog (http://growing-up-milton.blogspot.com/) later. We went to Taccoa Falls and to the Georgia Aquarium. Awesome stuff!
